Truett Racing: Moose Racing Wild Boar Round 1 Race Report
We at OTR Wheel Engineering are proud to be sponsoring Truett Racing. Truett Racing is a racing family competing with a 2016 Polaris RZR XP 1000 running the number 117 and a 2017 Polaris Ace 900 XC running the same number in the Ace class at GNCC. Collin, Mitch, and Alex Truett make up the family PRO Class UTV racing team. They are sponsored by Polaris, Corbeau Seats, SuperATV, Turtle Labs, Truett Insulation, and OTR Wheel Engineering.
This is the first in a series of ‘Race Reports’ that will give our readers some insight into the highly competitive sport that is UTV racing! The first Race Report we have is written by Mitch Truett and covers the Moose Racing Wild Boar Round 1 Ace race, which took place in Palatka, Florida March 11th – March 12th 2017:
Collin won the First Round of the Polaris Ace Single Seat Race which was held in Palakta Florida. Our new 2017 Ace 900xc was shipped to us from Polaris a couple weeks prior to this event. We basically had enough time to get our Corbeau seat and harness installed along with some new OTR Wheel Wizzard tires. After watching some video footage of last year’s Ace racing, and knowing how GNCC track builders like to put in tight tricky sections, we decided to go with some 26 x 9.00-14 Wizzard tires on all 4 corners.
Collin didn’t get the start he wanted, so he went into the woods in 5th position. He had walked the track the day before, so he knew exactly where he could make some move if needed. He was able to stay patient and wait for those good passing opportunities. He came around 2nd on lap one and made his move to the front by the middle of lap two. He stayed there until the end. We had made a great wheel and tire choice before this race too. Running OTR’s 26 x 9.00-14 Wizzard tires on all four corners put our car measuring in around 59″ wide. This allowed him to maneuver through the woods sections at a good clip. He finished race one right where he needed to be with a race win!
