Truett Racing Camp Coker Bullet Round 2 Ace Race Report
We at OTR Wheel Engineering are proud to be sponsoring Truett Racing. Truett Racing is a racing family competing with a 2016 Polaris RZR XP 1000 running the number 117 and a 2017 Polaris Ace 900 XC running the same number in the Ace class at GNCC. Collin, Mitch, and Alex Truett make up the family PRO Class UTV racing team. They are sponsored by Polaris, Corbeau Seats, SuperATV, Turtle Labs, Truett Insulation, and OTR Wheel Engineering.
This is the second in a series of ‘Race Reports’ that will give our readers some insight into the highly competitive sport that is UTV racing! The second Race Report we have is written by Mitch Truett and covers the Camp Coker Bullet Society Hill, SC Round 2 Ace race, which took place in Society Hill, South Carolina April 22nd through April 23rd, 2017:
After our success in the round race, we decided to leave our Ace 900xc alone. So we headed down to Society Hill SC for round 2 of the Polaris Ace Single seat class, with our newly wrapped car!
This track soil was very consistent with the Florida soil, sand and more sand. The track was much wider though, so we knew it would be faster. The car seems to be working perfectly with the smaller 26″ tires, so we decided to stay with our same wheel/tire combo. I admit, this decision was making me nervous when they all lined up. Collin’s OTR Polaris was still sitting at 59″ wide while the other racers had widen up their cars quiet a bit. Some of them looked to be 64″ wide!
Collin fought hard for the hole shot this time. He was not first to turn one, but he was first out of turn one! This is just where he needed to be too because of the dusty conditions. He settled in with his race pace and never looked back. He was consistently turning 20 seconds a lap faster than 2nd place. He earned the win in Race 2 with over a minute lead. After Round 2, Collin is currently the points leader with (2) race wins!
